They may look like flying ants, but termites do extensive damage. Termites are most commonly visible when they swarm. Subterranean termites will appear in the warmth that follows a rain in the spring and fall. You’ll see dry wood termite swarms in late summer and in the hotter months. Termite activity can also be detected by tiny pellets of termite droppings which look like salt and pepper.
Another important sign is the presence of termite tubes left by subterranean termites. These tubes are made up of what used to be your home’s or business’s wood structure. Quickly detecting and eradicating the termite threat is essential. Unknown and left untreated, a termite infestation can lead to costly repairs or even the total loss of a structure. It’s even better to prevent a termite outbreak in the first place through regular inspection and treatment.
