They may look like flying ants, but termites do extensive damage.
Termites are most commonly visible when they swarm. Subterranean termites will appear in the warmth that follows a rain in the spring and fall. You’ll see dry wood termite swarms in late summer and in the hotter months. Termite activity can also be detected by tiny pellets of termite droppings which look like salt and pepper.
Subterranean termites will make themselves known through the appearance of “tubes” that appear over the areas where they have eaten away the wood. When you see tubes, you’re seeing damage that threatens your home or business. If the damage goes without detection or treatment, it can lead to extensive repairs or the complete loss of the building. Regular inspection and treatment are the best ways to keep termites from destroying your investments.
